The proportion of 11-year-olds in England hitting expected standards in reading, writing and maths has slumped following the Covid pandemic.
Key stage 2 Sats results show that the proportion of pupils meeting the standard across all three subjects was 59 per cent in 2022, compared to 65 per cent in 2019.
The schools minister Robin Walker said the results were “disappointing” but “expected due to the impact of the pandemic”.
