In 2022, there were decreases in starts of most types of family law proceeding when comparing to the previous year. Financial remedy, private law and public law cases were down by 19, 4 and 2 per cent respectively. However, there was an increase in matrimonial and domestic violence cases by 11 and 3 per cent respectively. Similarly, there were decreases in most case types disposed: matrimonial (29 per cent), financial remedy (21 per cent), adoption (15 per cent), and private law (1 per cent) cases. However, there was an increase in domestic violence cases disposed (5 per cent).
